Welcome to my crafting blog. After retirement, my husband and I moved to a beautiful location in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. I love all paper crafts including mixed media, journaling and cards. I also dabble in papermaking, photography, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media groups and on the design team of several challenge blog. I love the world of blogging, it has opened many doors for me. My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” I hope you join me in my search for my creative side. Thanks for stopping by!

Hot Dog

I have been busy this week finishing off my cards for the upcoming swaps that I have signed up for June. We may be having a postal strike this week so I may have to take a ride over the border to mail my cards to my American card buddies. This card tonight was created for a card sketch swap. The digitial stamp is by Kenny Kierman. I love his cute images. Happy creating everyone.

Three Ladies

Tonight’s card was made for an upcoming swap; the challenge was to use lace somewhere on the card. I love the combination of brown and pink. I will be sorry when this group of papers are used up. I am headed back to my craft room now to clean up. I wish I was not so messy. This weekend I am going to try out couple of new techniques I learnt in my card class this month. Happy creating everyone.

Mermaid card

Tonight’s card was inspired by the home page art work created by Lesley Langdon displayed on the Ranger Ink Link Yahoo group and some lovely shell paper I had in my collection.

I pulled out my all my fish and sea shell stamps and coloured the images with my Copic markers and pop dotted the images to give a layering effect. The mermaid is from the collection of digital stamps from Digital Doodles and added shell beads running throughout the card to tie it together.

I am now going back to my craft room to create another card.

Barbecue Time

Tonight’s card has a barbecue theme which I am getting ready for an upcoming swap. The template I used for the apron can be found on Mirkwood Designs web site. This site has a great selection of card patterns.

I have used this template before for a kitchen apron and a Home Depot apron. The “I’d flip for you” stamp is by Changito rubber stamps and the barbecue stamp is by Inkadinkado rubber stamps. Now I am back to my craft room to clean up my mess and start on another project.

Antique painting

My card tonight is a collage using many different techniques to give an old world feel. The photo was taken in the Louvre in Paris on holidays. I coated it with a gel medium and placed it face down on my card stock. After about 24 hours I peeled off the back of the photo to reveal the painting. I like the antique effect it gives the image where parts of the photo were missing. The other elements I used in the collage are:
• butterfly napkin
• Hero Arts stamp “Italian Poem”
• sewing pattern
• grunge board flourish rubbed with copper metallic paint
To further age the card I used sandpaper on parts and added a sepia colour wash.

Secret pocket

Tonight my inspiration came from an older card sketch that I found on Di Hickman's blog. I like this little twist on the standard thank you card. Now I must return to my stamp room to clean up the mess. Judy
