Have a Ball

Time for another challenge at Come and Get It and the theme this week is to make your own embellishments. I have used   an image from Scrapper's Delight, one of our great sponsors for my card called  Lady Jane . She is a lovely image to colour with my Copics.

I used a very old rubber stamp (1996) for the background from Hero Arts called Bursting Fireworks for the background of my card.  I thought it worked well with the theme of the card. My embellishment I made with a die cut which I added a star to to continue with the theme.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.

Mixed Media - Love You to the Moon and Back

This is my  project for this months challenge at Creative Artiste.  The theme of the challenge is anything goes with a twist  to us to use chipboards, stencils or flower.  When I heard the theme of the  challenge I thought immediately about doing this framed canvas of my grandson, River.

The sponsor for this challenge is Dusty Attic Chipboard Company. Check out their store for some great creative products.

To create this project I decoupage some brown printed tissue paper to the canvas then rolled a thine layer of gesso over the print so that the print would not stand out too much.  I used a wood grain stencil by Tim Holtz to add some texture and mimic the background of the picture.

I added a doily and some layers pf paper behind the picture. I used several colours of Distress Inks to colour the doily and a charcoal pencil to give it some definition..  Once I added my picture I then  added my chipboard sentiment , flowers, gears and other findings to complete my canvas.  Chipboard and flowers are from Southern Ridge Trading Co.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.  Remember to pop over to the Creative Artiste's challenge blog to see the beautiful creations the design team have created to inspire you.

    Dragonfly Garden - Altered Gourd

Time for a new challenge at Altered Eclectics and I have made an altered gourd for this month's challenge.  I got my idea to alter the gourd from all of the beautiful altered pumpkins that I have seen.

The theme of the challenge is anything goes and the challenge is opened to mixed media. recycled,  altered art and upcycled projects.  This challenge is not opened to cards and Atcs.

To alter my gourd I added several layers of thick gesso and added a white fabric lace doily to the top of  the gourd for more texture.   You can see the lace peaking underneath the beads, buttons and gears I added to the sides of the gourd.

The wood pieces are some twigs I found at the beach and I added some steampunk dragonflies, some flowers, berries and leaves from my stash for the garden.  To complete the project I added some distress ink to give the gourd more of an antique look.

    Some more views.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will join us this month at Altered Eclectics.  Remember to stop by their challenge blog to see the beautiful creations of that the design team have created to inspire you.  Flowers and chipboard is by Southern Ridge Trading Co.
