Monochromatic Christmas Card

It is a monochromatic Christmas card challenge that Paige, one of the Christmas Elves at Holly Jolly chose for this week's challenge.

To make my card I used two sizes of a star die cut, an embossing folder, chiffon ribbon and a "joy" punch.  I like the effect of white on white.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will join us at Holly Jolly this week.

Greetings from Paradise

Hello,  my turn at  Come and Get It Challenges to chose this weeks challenge and it is a "travel" theme challenge.  This opens up a lot of choice for a card this week.

When I thought of what I was going to make for this challenge I had a few ideas and settled on this post card inspired card.  The card is a collage of several different images, both rubber stamped and digital. The beach house and the sending you sunshine sentiment are by Make It Crafty, the post card image is by Tim Holtz and the flowers  and paradise sentiment are from a set of unmounted travel  rubber stamps.  To complete my card I coloured the image with my Copic Markers and added some bling.

Hope you will join our challenge this week.  If you need some inspiration hop over to the Come and Get It Blog and see the beautiful cards the reset of the design team made to inspire you.  Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy the Gift of Nature

I like the Pine Cone Spray from Fred She Said Designs.   There is so much you can do with the digital images in the set.

For this simple card I put two images together to make the oval shape that I used for this card.  I added some colour to the image and mounted the image on several different card stocks. The wood grain background was a embossing folder that I added some Distress Ink too. The sentiment is  by Inkadinkado.

Thank you for stopping by.  I am off to clean up my craft room.

Glazed Shaving Cream Shapes

Technique Junkies has a swap this month and the idea is to take a technique from one of their issues and create a card with it.  I chose to use the glazed shaving cream technique.  The shaving cream [ark of the technique is a variation of colouring card stock using reinkers and shaving cream that we used years ago.

The butterfly die cuts were coloured by dipping them in the multicoloured shaving cream then stamped with a verse stamp.  Next butterflies were coated with  Versa Mark ink and clear embossing powder.  The embossing gives the butterflies a very rich look.

The sentiment was embossed with purple embossing powder and layered on glitter paper and pattern paper.  To complete the card I added pearls.

Thank you for stopping by.

Beachy Colours

I made this card for an upcomig swap at the Yahoo Group Inky Fun Stampers where the theme is beach colours. I had this pretty shell background paper in my stash and I thought I would run with the colours.

The fish scene is a rubber stamp from my collection that I coloured with my PanPastels.  I had also in my stash this ribbon I think looks like seaweed. I added some shell like buttons, pearls and a couple of pieces of Shrinky Dink plastic that I had stamped and coloured to look like sea glass.

Thank you for stopping by.

Ribbon or Lace that is the challenge

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenges this week has a ribbon or lace challenge and Fred, She Said Designs is the sponsor of the challenge.  I chose to use one of Fred's new images called Doodle Floral. You should hop over to Fred's blog and see what she has been up to. There are several new techniques on her blog.

I thought the pretty flower image suited bright summer colours and I love orange and yellow combos. This simple card was coloured with Copic Markers and layered on several embossed papers.  The last thing I added was of course the ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by.

Just Because I Care

I made this care for Word Art Wednesday's Anything Goes Challenge this week.  The flowers on the card are by Fred, She Said Designs.  The sentiment is by Stampin Up.  I used a circle die cut to cut out my papers for my layout.  After mounted the papers on my base card I added my flowers, ribbon, sentiment, stamped butterfly, and glitter.

This was a very simple quick card to make and I think is cheery in the orange and yellow colours.  Thank you for stoping by and I hope you have a creative day.

Things with Wings - Fruit Fly

Julie's turn to pick the challenge this week at Come and Get It Challenges and she chose a great challenge for this time of the year, Things with Wings.  Since I live in the hot and sunny Okanagan I instantly thought of all the fruit trees ,the extreme hot weather we have had this year and the bugs.

Bugaboo is our sponsor and I have used their scene it, fruit fly digital stamp for the image.  When we have Bugaboo as our sponsor we always have such a great prize for the winner.

I used bright colours on my card to represent this the sunny summer we are having and showing these fruit flies are having lots of fun.  The stripes on the card are Washi tape and the sentiment is by A Muse Artstamps.

Hope you will join us this week at Come and Get It. Thank you for stlopping by to take a look and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Artist Trading Card Swap with Embossing Powder

At Ink Fun Stampers this month I joined a ATC swap where the theme was embossing powder.  I thought it was perfect time to try a new technique from Technique Junkies called glazed shaving cream shapes.  In this technique you cut out your die cut from paper that you have dyed with shaving cream and reinkers.  I had not used the shaving cream technique for a very long time ans it was fun to experiment with.  Once I had my butterfly cut out I stamped it with a Italian love poem rubber stamp then coated the whole with clear embossing powder.

The background paper for the ATC was made when I was playing with my reinkers and masking tape.  To complete my butterfly I added some pearls and outlined the the card with with my gold leafing pen.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a very creative day.

Back to School

I  love this back to school digital stamp I had from Paper Shelter.  I think she is cute carrying her school books and made a great back to school card.  The school house is part of a piece of pattern paper I had and I used some letter stickers that were in my stash for the Back to School sentiment  and added a ribbon to complete the card.

Thank for stopping to take a look.  I have to now clean up my craft room but that is noy very unusual.

Through the Craft Room Door

I am excited this week to be a guest designer for Through the Craft Room Door (TTCRD)  and to be able to join Sandi and the gang for this challenge.

This challenge has a sponsor, Oozak and that means a prize for one lucky winner.  Check out the TTCRD blog for the details.

I had fun making this card for the challenge.  I loved colouring Steampunk Sally with my Copic Markers.  I just love this image I purchased at Delicious Doodle Shop.  Once I got my colours the way I wanted on the card I then mounted the image on a piece of purple card stock then on to gray paper embossed this gears.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a very creative week.

Glitter Galore

Do you love glitter? If you do this is the challenge for you.  Julie, one of the Christmas Elves at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges has chosen "glitter galore" for the theme of this weeks challenge. Can you have too much glitter on a Christmas card?

My simple looking card was made with a Christmas bell die by Dee's Distinctively.   The die  is a three piece die that is quite detailed.  I first put a piece of wide Be Creative tape on a piece of card stock and then cut out the pieces to make my bell. Once the pieces were cut out I took the top layer off of the sticky tape of one of the pieces and then burnished glitter on the piece. I then did the same to the other two bell parts.  I used a different colour of glitter on each section. I then glued the pieces of the bell together and layered them on a die cut.  Next I added a ribbon, pearl and then layered it on to a piece of matching glitter paper from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will join us for this glitter galore challenge.

Birthday Wishes

Shell chose a sketch challenge at Come and Get It this week and this is the card I made for the challenge.  Here is the sketch that I based my card on.

I used some pattern papers from my collection to create the background of my card.  I then added the sentiment and two ribbons.  The last thing I added was the butterfly cut from some paper I was playing with on the Gelli Plate that I thought had an interesting pattern.

Come join us the week at Come and Get it and have a very creative day.

Happy Birthday Rock Star

I made this card for a niece's little girl's upcoming birthday.  I hope she likes this image from Paper Shelter that I chose for her birthday card.  The image is called Rock Star. and I love the image and the modern colour combo I used for the card.

Once I had coloured the image I added some die cut glittered stars, brads and bling to add sparkle to the card. I think this card will just be perfect for a 7 year old's birthday.

Thank you for stopping by today.   Remember my favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” Do something creative for yourself today.
