Monochromatic Challenge at SLS Lines

I created this monochromatic canvas this week for the SLS Lines Challenge blog for their May Challenge.  I fell in love with this image of a little girl reading and decided to make an altered canvas. The image is called young book reader in library

 SLS Lines

To make my canvas I covered my board with dictionary paper, used acrylic paint to colour the back ground brown and then used a Donna Downy stencil to create the words in the background using molding paste and PanPastels to colour the paste a brown tone.  The image was coloured with Copics all in shades of brown and I used distress inks to colour my sentiment.  It was a fun project.

I made a tent card for this challenge. To colour my image I used Copics, metallic pen, white gell pen, gold leafing pen,  and Wink of Stella.  I used a die cut from Elizabeth Designs to make the ten card. To complete my card I added some fabric snowflakes and a sentiment.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.

Faux or Real Stitches Challenge

This week at Crafty Cardmakers it is a stitches challenge, faux or real.  My card is a combination of real and faux stitches.  I used rubber stamps by Tim Holtz for the fauz stitches and ruler.  The sewing images are stamps by  Class Act Rubber stamps.  The sewing machine and scissors are chipboard by Southern Ridge Trading Company

I sewed my background of my card then added my rubber stamped faux stitches  and ruler. After I was happy with the background I added my stamped sewing images that I coloured with Copics and my chipboard sewing machine and scissors that I coloured with acrylic paints and Diamond Glaze. To complete the card I added  some lace and a button.

Why So Serious

This is my inspirational art journal page for May at SLS Lines. I had lots of fun playing in my art journal book. The background of my page is a gelli print that I added some stenciled circles to.

The image I used from SLS Lines is one of my favourites called  Mad Court Jestor and can be found in the SLS Lines Esty shop here. I coloured my image with Copics and a charcoal pencil.  I used molding paste and a stencil around the image.  The molding paste was coloured gold using PanPastels.  I used a stencil for the  large wording and a Dymo for the "Have Fun".

Aging Advice and thoughts from those Crazy Birds

It is time again for a challenge at Creative Artistes.  The challenge this month is anything goes and I created a mini book for my neighbours birthday.  The theme of the book is happy birthday and aging advice from those crazy birds. The mini album took quite a few days to make but was fun coming up wit the ideas.

Here is the front of my book.

I had fun designing the front cover, adding the bicycle and legs for the bird.  I used several different products to colour the birds including Copics, metallic markers and watercolour crayons. Some of the hats are from the collection of Tim Holtz and some of the hats are from parts of digital images and rubber stamps. Some of the ideas for the pages were completely my original ideas but some were inspired by Pinterest and other stamps that I had.

Inside cover

There are 6 sections to the book.  Each section contains 3 or four areas to create on plus a tag. Lots of creative real estate here.  One of my dear crafting friends Marta,  taught me how to put the book together  and I decorated it.  The pattern can be found on
Laura Denison's  blog here
