Go Green Challenge

Go Green is the theme of the challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and I am the host of this week's challenge.

I used an old rubber stamp from my collection by Stamps, Happen, Inc for my green inspired card. The stamp is called Willow Flower Fairy.  I coloured the image with Copics, gelli pen and Posca paints.  I thought this was the perfect stamp for a green themed card.

To complete my card I added a copper butterfly and some pearls.

Hope you will join us for this weeks challenge.  Pop over to our challenge blog to see the inspiring cards of our talented design team.  Thank you for stopping by.

Altered Bottle with Shine

This is my project for this month's Creative Artiste.  Our sponsor this month is Hannah Oxberry, Mixed Media Artist.  Make sure you visit her blog and shop for creative ideas.

No automatic alt text available.

I decided this month to try another effect to alter a glass bottle.  I used chalk paint and acrylic paint for the first layer on my bottle and choose lighter colours because I really need spring to be here. To give the bottle some shine I used a combination of gold, copper and silver leaf along with a couple of mica powders.

Some other views of the bottle.

I embellished the bottle with a rubber stamp by the Old Island Rubber Stamp company , a metal heart, lace, beads  and a crystal from an old wall hanging.

Garden Notebook

Time for another challenge at Eclectic Ellapu.  The theme of the challenge is Spring has Sprung.  I decided to recycle an old scrapbook and make it into a note book to be able to log my garden planting.

I used a combination of silk flowers and leaves for my project, jute string and a gelli polate print for the cover pages.  I hand stamped the title to the book and added oges for writing my note.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week.  Hope you will join us in the spring challenge this month.

Altered Tin

I am back with another mixed media project for Altered Eclectics.  This month I decided to alter this large 6 sided tin I found at a thrift store.

This is what I started with

After I had sanded the tin I painted it with gesso and added a collage layer of papers from an old drafting manual. Next I stenciled  a design on three of the tin's six sides and then used a wash of acrylic paint in greens and browns to give it an antique effect.

My final steps were to add large leather circles to the sides of the tin from a 1970s belt that I found at a thrift store.  I used a buckle from the belt on the lid. I thought the pieces from the belt continue the industrial feeling of the piece.  I painted the belt parts with paints to give the project a more of an antique feel.

More views of the project.

Old metal and leather belts pieces are great finds in thrift stores for mixed media industrial and steampunk projects. I think my tin belongs on a shelf in an old barn.
