Thing that Go Bump in the Night

Time for another great card challenge over at Crafty Card Makers this week.  The theme of the challenge is "things that go bump in the night".

I used Stampendous' Raven Skull and Stampin Up's Happy Fright Night Halloween stamps for this card along with Distress Inks and Copics.

I used a spider cutting die, ribbon and Halloween paper from my stash.

Halloween cards are always fun to make.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week.

Remember to pop over to our challenge blog to be inspired by the creativity of our design team.

I am sad to let you know that this is the last post for Crafty Cardmakers. I have participate in the group for more than 5 years and have enjoyed the group immensely.

Lin after 9 years of running things at Crafty Cardmakers has made the decision to close the blog. She has had health issues for some time now and has come to the realisation that actually struggling on like this has been stifling any creativity she started out with.

So this will be our last challenge. Lin will be back on 9th November with the winner and top 5 of this challenge but that will be our last post.

Thank you for all of our participants in the challenges. Keep on creating and stay safe.

Life is Beautiful

Time for another great challenge  at  Crafty CardMakers this week.  The theme for the challenge this week is make a Tag.

This my tag for the challenge.

For this tag challenge I chose to use a chipboard tag along with some beautiful rose Stamperia rice paper. To the rice paper I added some stencilling, butterflies, a stamp,  distress ink, and ribbon.

After I completed the first tag I decided to make a second tag using the same techniques.

Altered Wine Bottle Holder

We have another great challenge over at Creative Artiste this month and as always the theme is anything goes as long as it is mixed media/altered art.

For my project this month I decided to alter this fantastic wine holder that I found at a thrift store.

My picture of the original wine holder does not do it justice.  The container is solid wood, has a leather and wood handle and a metal insert in the bottom that allows the bottles to slant outwards.

To create my project I sand papered the box and  I decided on my design, added squares of cardboard to the base of the wine box and added a coating of gesso to the whole of the project.

My next step was to create the design and add my findings.

I painted the findings with gesso to then sprayed the project with an assortment of spray paints.  Once I was satisfied with the  look of the sprays and colour combinations I added some white gesso to high some areas along with green and purple Pentart wax paste.

Here are some closer views

Halloween Altered Box, Anything Goes at Steampunk Challenges

If you have not hear we have a new challenge blog called Steampunk challenges.  This is our second monthly challenge. We are a Steam . Grunge . Industrial themed blog.  Check us out here.

This months challenge is anything goes and I decided to create an altered Halloween box.

This is the box I started with.  I sanded it and applied a layer of gesso to the entire box.

To create my Halloween theme box I used an assortment of napkins, Halloween papers, metal pieces along with some steampunk elements, crackle paste and antiquing solutions.

I used a plastic Halloween partial skeleton for the handle for my box that I coloured with antiquing solution and glued with E6000.
