Welcome back to the first challenge of 2023 at 613 Avenue Create.  We will have lots of fun this year, hope you will join in the fun.

This  month's challenge is anything goes with an optional of a winter theme.

I chose a winter them using an digital stamp by McMahon Five Designs.  I have used this digital stamp a few times and McMahon Five Designs sponsored a challenge years ago that I participated in.

I did a Google search and it appears that the company as not been active since some time in 2016.

I coloured the image with Copics and pencil crayons.  I added a very pretty glittered snowflake die cut over a pretty white and blue snowflake background paper.  The sentiment was created on my computer.

Thank you for stopping by and have a create year. Remember to pop over to our challenge blog to be inspired by our creative design team.

I am entering this card in the following challenges

Our theme is always

"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects.

Please respect that we do not currently accept Instagram or Facebook entries. Only correctly linked blog entries please.

This is my project for this challenge, an encaustic Christmas scene.

I painted my wood cradle with 4 layers of bees wax and then prepared a piece of rice paper by SkokArt Sister colouring the reverse of the paper with several colours of Pan Pastels. I used a yellow Pan Pastels to represent the light coming from the street lamps and building.

Next I fused the rice paper to the board with using bees wax. I added a few die cuts and findings to create my scene. I also rubber stamped some bricks and building texture to the picture along with die cut the choir scene and some Indian ink lines.  My final touches were the Merry Christmas, glittered star and Mars Black R & F pigment stick around the edges of the canvas.

Creative Artiste - November's Mixed Media Challenge

Time for another great mixed media challenge over at Creative Artiste.

 Our theme is always

"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects. Please respect that we do not currently accept Instagram entries. Only correctly linked blog entries please.

For this months challenge I decided it would be fun to make a Junk Art Journal.

This is the cover for my journal.

I used an image from Kenny K for my cover to my book along with two die cut clocks and die cuts from an old die cut by Tim Holtz for Sizzix called alterations.
.  The paper pack that inspired my project was my friend at PipArt  and her companies line of paper  called ShokART Sisters Collection. A lot the papers I used for the project were from their collection along with papers from my stash.

This is how I put together the art journal together.  I got the directions from a you tube video by Nina Ribena called Use your scraps 2022 . She also has a number of other videos on Art Journal ideas.

This is how I constructed the box.

The inside of the journal was lined with some wrapping paper that I added some gesso to tone down the colour.

This is the inside cover of my book and I used  a steampunk bird from the paper pack, added a wooden crown and a large gears die cut along with other little details.

This is the last page of the book and the inside cover.  I used a wood steampunk mannequin that I dressed in the birthday paper and used an antique paint technique on the clogs and gears. I also added a necklace and a metal belt to the dress.

The beads I create for the back of the book.   I used some wooden beads, gears and clots that I created an antique finish on.

A couple of pages I created for the journal.  I have lots of pages to fill over the next little while. Lots of creative real estate in my journal.

I added some ATC's I made using an antique finish and metal computer parts.

I created this page using a napkin, wooden frog, stencil, die cut and butterflies.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative month.  Hope you will join us this month.

Creative Artiste's October's Challenge

Time for another great mixed media challenge over at Creative Artiste.

 Our theme is always

"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects. Please respect that we do not currently accept Instagram entries.

The term “mixed media art” is a broad definition that covers many forms of arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage, altered objects, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) tags and art journaling  as long as you use different mediums.

The “mixed media” used includes paint, paper, pastes, sprays, powders, textural elements, clay, resins, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal, inks, pencils, markers and pastels to name just a few.

This is my project I made for this challenge, a page for my art journal book.

I made my collage is using images I have collected from some art show advertisement pamphlets, business cards and magazine images. I used a combinations of acrylics, stencil, posca pens and inks for the background.
