Altered Photo Box

I have been on a winter get-a-way for the last couple of months  and at one point we spent sometime at Oceanside, California.  I love watching the ocean with the waves beating the shore.  This trip was my inspiration for this altered box.  I thought it would be nice project for this month's Altered challenge at Altered Eclectics and a place to store Post It Notes and my pens and pencils.  This is the box I started with for this project.

I wanted to make my box look like a old weather box that you would find at a beach cabin, with layers of paint.   I sanded my box and then painted the box first with a layer of blue paint, then red and at the last coat was white. In a few sections of the box I also added some Kona crackle paint.  I then sanded some of the edges so the red and blue paint showed through in spots.

Here is a could of closers looks at the technique.

The image I used for the top of the box is a black and white post card from Graphics Fairy. I added a little bit of colour to their bathing suits. I used Kroma Crackle to add some texture to the box and  added some beachy glass bead for the feet of the box,

Thank you for stopping to take a look.  Pop over to Altered Eclectics to see the creations that the other design team members have made to inspire you.  Have a creative day.
