This is my project for the month of August at Creative Artiste. As always the theme at Creative Artiste is anything goes as long as it is mixed media and/or altered art.
This is what I started with
I decoupaged this glass plate I found at a thrift store. I just loved the shape of it. I used my scraps of Stamperia rice paper using Pentart Decoupage Varnish and Glue for Ceramics. There are 3 different rice paper patterns for the design. I first decoupaged the rice paper to the bottom of the glass. Once I was satisfied with the design and the the papers were dry I painted a couple of layers of white acrylic paint on top of the rice paper and then painted a couple of coats of dark green acrylic paint. To complete the project I added Glamour Metallic Paint in rich gold along the edges of the plate.

I decided to use the rest of my paper on a white candle and the base I made for it.

That's an amazing transformation - the rice paper is made to look even more beautiful by the glassy surface. I've got some lovely rice papers by Stamperia too, and have been wondering how best to make use of them. I'm now going to keep an eye out for glass to decoupage! The candle looks good too. Thanks so much for the inspiration.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful choice of paper Judy you really have maximised the word upcycle and created not one but two magnificent pieces. Rice paper is such a versatile medium to use and you have displayed exactly that. Amazing and inspiring, thank you for sharing.
