Welcome to my crafting blog. After retirement, my husband and I moved to a beautiful location in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. I love all paper crafts including mixed media, journaling and cards. I also dabble in papermaking, photography, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media groups and on the design team of several challenge blog. I love the world of blogging, it has opened many doors for me. My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” I hope you join me in my search for my creative side. Thanks for stopping by!

Encaustic Dream Heart

I have made this encaustic heart for this month's Altered Eclectics' anything goes challenge.  Altered Eclectics is an exciting challenge blog for mix media, altered art, up-cycling and recycling.

I am new to playing with encaustic wax so I had fun experimenting with the medium. To make my project I first used an encaustic iron to add the colours (purple, silver and turquoise)  my background.   I added some glass beads to the wax for some sparkle. I used a similar method to make my heart and mounted it on white cardstock before adding it to the background.

The key and stars are metal pieces that I used wax to adhere them to the project.  To complete the piece I used my encaustic stylus tool to add the lettering and the black trim around the edges of the heart.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day. Remember to stop by the Altered Eclectics blog to see the projects that the talented design team has created to inspire you.
