It's a Girl Thing

It's a Girl Thing is the theme of this weeks Come and Get It's challenge.  I am using one of our sponsors, Lemon Shortbread images for my art journal page.  The name of the image is  80's Fashion City Girl.

My idea for this art journal page was some papers I had made using CitraSolv and National Geographic pages.    I love the way the CitraSolv alters the images and makes these unusual pages.  I thought these pages I made were ideal for my art journal page. You can find more information about CitraSolv on my Pinterest site here

My image was coloured with Copics, pencil crayon and white gelly roll pen.

Easter Challenge

It is time for another fun challenge at Come and Get It Challenges this week and the theme is Easter.   I have used our sponsor , Polkadoodles image called  Tulip, the darling buds.  I think she is beautiful and a great image for this Easter challenge.

I has fun making the card, layering designer papers, colouring image with Copics, Wink of Stella, adding butterfly, gems and a sentiment.

Altered Mannequin

Time for another altered art challenge at Altered Eclectics.  This month I decided to alter a mannequin. It was a fun project.

This is what I started with

I was out shopping at my favourite thrift store one day and noticed that the children's store near by was quickly closing up and moving away.  I popped over to the shop and saw they were selling off the mannequins for $5.00 each.  My hubby was shaking his head when I came out of the store with 2 of them.  He should have not been surprised, after 30 years together nothing should surprise him.  My only regret was I could of purchased their display of feet and arm mannequins.

I removed the cloth cover and painted the body in Gesso and then started to add my findings and lace.  Once I had my findings and lace attached to my project I painted them with Gesso and then started to add my paints and ink sprays.

Here is a closer look.

Vintage Dresses

Eclectic Ellapu is having another great challenge this month and the theme of the challenge is is vintage/shabby chic.

I have made these two little baby dress for a friend whose going to be a grandmother of twin girls.  I try to make the dresses similar but not the same.  I found some small flowered paper for the dresses  and I inked the edges and used a white gell pen to add some little details.

I used vintage lace that I found at the local thrift store, old buttons, old seam binding and pearls to decorate the dress cards.
