We have another great challenge happening over at Creative Artiste, as always the Challenge is anything goes mixed media.
The term “mixed media art” is a broad definition that covers many forms of arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage, altered objects, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) tags and art journaling as long as you use different mediums.
The “mixed media” used includes paint, paper, pastes, sprays, powders, textural elements, clay, resins, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal, inks, pencils, markers and pastels to name just a few.
This is my project for August, a page for my art journal book.
The owl is part of a napkin that I purchased over at Ninny's Napkins, the napkin is called barn owl. I think he is very cute.
1. added a wash to my designer paper from the LTD Collection with a light coat of gesso
2. added more colour to the page with Pan Pastels
3. added the owl using a gloss medium and high lighted the parts of the owl with acrylic paint to make it stand out
4. the moths and butterflies were from some Tim Holts tissue paper which I also coloured with Pan Pastels
5. the moon is a cut out of the designer paper and Pan Pastels were used to give it a yellow glow
the sentiment was created on the computer and added to the project
Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week. Hope you will join us this. Remember to pop over to our challenge blog to be inspired by our talented design team.
Oh what a sweet journal page Judy, I too adore that barn owl fabulous soulful eyes. A wonderful mix of collage and mark making, I'm so glad you introduced the pan pastels too... such a forgotten medium. A very pretty spread with a very quirky quote.
