Let's Play

Time for another challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this week. The challenge theme is  anything but a card and I decided to do a colourful scrapbook page of my youngest grandson Cooper.

I used several dies, stamps, washi tape and scraps left over from other projects.  I love this picture of him and all of his play friends.

Altered Art Journal with Rice Paper

Time for another challenge at Creative Artiste this month. The theme is anything goes as long as it is Mixed Media and can be an ATC, tag, card, layout, altered art or an off-the-page project as long as you follow the challenge specifications. You must use more then 3 different mediums on your project to qualify for our mixed media rules.

I decided to make an mixed media/altered art journal book.

This is what I started with an small watercolor art journal

Background

I  painted my cover of my art journal with gesso and then added strips of colour for my background.  I chose the colours so that they would peak through my black and white Stamperia  butterfly rice paper.   Once the paint dried I decoupaged the rice paper to the art journal.  I added stenciled flowers and gold leafed the edges on the book.  To complete the design I created a paper flower and attached it to the elastic that went around the art journal.  I added splashes of paint and green mini beads

Masculine Card Challenge

Time for another challenge at Crafty CardMakers this month and the theme of the challenge is masculine cards.

I decided to use my die cuts for this card along with my Pan Pastels for colour.  The birthday sentiment is bb Tim Holtz along with the tree dies. I do not remember at this moment who makes the hunting dies. I used several different circle dies along with an embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week. Please join us in this masculine card challenge.  Remember to pop over to our challenge blog to be inspired by our creative design team.

Back to School in Colour

The theme of the challenge this month over at Splashy Mix Challenges is "Back to School" this month.

Here is the moodboard for this challenge.

No photo description available.

I painted my canvas with gesso and used a number stencil to added some random numbers with texture paste. Next I added some colours in acrylic paints,  stenciled some pink hearts and some stamped some swirls.

The image I used on my project is a digital image from The Paper Shelter. I coloured her with Copics. I thought it was perfect for this themed project. I went through my stash of paper for colours that I could use on the background papers, tags etc. I played with the layers until I found a look that I liked. I also added some wooden letters, school bus, sentiments and a brad.

Here are some closer looks

Altered Flower Container

It is time for another altered art/mixed media challenge at Altered Eclectics

I found this tin container in a free pile at a garage sale and decided to alter the tin and create a door hanger for my front door.

My Altered Tin

I sanded my container   and then painted it with gesso and added rice paper by Stamperia.  I loved this pretty garden pattern. I used crackle paint, stain on parts of the container to give the container an antique look. I also added jupe cord on the handle and and brown lace on the bottom of the tin.

Using a stencil and stencil paste I added the word Beautiful  and then added a metal dragonfly.
