Colour Challenge at Holly Jolly, Red, White and Blue

It is a red, white and blue Christmas theme this week at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges.  I had this sentiment stamp by Lindy's Stamp Gang in my stash and decided to do a friendship quilt for my card.  The stamp reads "the best gifts for Christmas ??  Love...Peace...Friends!"

I used some red, white and blue pattern Christmas card stock for the quilt and arranged them in a pattern, then I embossed the sentiment with navy blue embossing powder.  I layered the sentiment on a red die cut and added a laced crochet blue ribbon to complete the card.

Come join us this week at Holly Jolly, just create your card and enter it here.

Thanks for looking.

Happy Mother's Day

I had fun creating this Mother's Day card.  I was playing around with Distress Inks and a couple of background stamps and a stencil to make the background of the card. The writing in the background is a rubber stamp by Hero Arts called Italian Poetry and the hydrangea stamp is by PSX.

After I stamped the background I used Tea Dye and Spun Sugar Distressed Ink over some areas and then stenciled the dots with  Milled Lavender Distress Ink.  A heart die cut on textured kraft paper was used for the heart and then it was rubbed with Tea Dye  Distress Ink. The laser cut butterfly was coloured with Distress Inks and Gold Liquid Pearls and then pearls were added.  The flowers were some silk wedding flowers I had in my stash that I coloured with Distressed Ink.

To complete the card I added a fringe of lace and pearls that I found at the flea market and a key that I found in my stash.

Thank you for stopping by to look.  Now I am headed back to my craft room to clean up the mess.

The Colours of the Sea

Inking Fun Stampers has a card swap this month and the assignment was to create a card with the colours of the sea and sand. I created this card for the swap.

I torn many different blue and white papers and layered them to create my sea and then added a fish and die cut the background.  I chose the colour of the card stock, and layering papers to represent the sand.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look.  I am heading back to my craft room to now clean up the mess.

Joy Fold Challenge

Cindy has a great challenge at Come and Get It Challenges this week, a Joy Fold card.  I had fun making my card.  I altered a pattern I found on Pinterest and added my own twist.

To make my card I used several die cuts from several different companies, Mind's Eye pattern paper and a sentiment rubber stamp by All Night Media.
I sprayed my tattered flower and leaves with a Pearl Glaze to give them body and a shine.  I added some faux stitches around the edge of the card for more interest and a button and brad to complete the card.

Hope you will join us this week for this Joy Fold Challenge at Come and Get It. Have a creative day.

I love this old truck from Fred, She Said Designs, it is a great image for a Father's Day card or a birthday card for a guy. I made this card for an upcoming birthday of a friend. The colouring of the image and background were with Copic Markers and Distress Inks.  I used an embossing folder for the background that has gears on it and then added the punched gears to complete the card.

Embossed Plus a Ribbon

Meighan had a great idea for a challenge this week at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges, embossed plus a ribbon.

I embossed my background then rubbed gold and green Inka Gold over the embossed area. After the Inka Gold dried I buffed it with a soft cloth. I lovee it's shiny metallic colour.

The dove and holly digi is by Just Inklined Digital Stamps which I coloured with a few glitter pens. Next I ran a pattern ribbon horizontal on the card and added a little bling.  Thank you for stopping by today and remember to do something creative for yourself.

Hope you will join us at Holly Jolly this week. Pop over the Holly Jolly blog and see the cards of the rest of the design team has made to inspire you.

Pink, Brown and Gold

Pink, brown and gold, what a nice colour combination for a card.  This was the challenge choice of Shell this week at Come and Get It Challenges.

I used this sassy image from Paper Shelter for my birthday card.  The little girl I think suits a little pink dress. The butterflies are a die cut and the sentiment is by  A Muse Art Stamps.  I added a die cut ribbon, gold accents and some pink bling to complete my card.

Hope you will join us at Come and Get It this week. Thank you for stopping by to day and have a creative day.

Thats All ......Miss You

I had to make a card for a friend that was leaving her work place and we decided on this image from Kenny K Downloads for the card.  The friend wears a hat often that resembles the one on the digital stamp along with her blue jeans.   She is definitely not a flowery card kind of gal and Kenny K  images are kind of fun.  Hope she enjoys the card.

Playing in the Craft Room - PanPastels

This stamp is by PSX and I have had it in my collection for many years and it is time that I had it out again.  I have been wanting to play with my new PanPastels that I purchased a week or so ago.

The PanPastels were interesting to use and I think I will do more researching on the different techniques that I can use with them.  Once I coloured my stamped image I layered it over a couple of different card stock paper , added some twine, ribbon and some bling.

Thank you for stopping to take a look.  I  now need to clean up my messy craft room.  Sometimes I think it takes me twice the time to clean the mess then the time to make the card.

I used BBrat Balloon Sitter for my image for this card.  I think she is very cute. I coloured her with my Copic Markers and a glitter pen, added a birthday stamp that I stamped on a die cut balloon.  The border of balloons is a scotch tape that someone given me a long time ago.  I added some bling and a ribbon to complete the birthday card.

Inka Gold and Fabric Experiment

For an upcoming tag swap with the theme of fabric on a tag I decided to play with my Inka Gold and some upholstery fabric. I painted my fabric with gold, green and purple Inka Gold. After the first layer of  Inka Gold had dried I used a stencil and added a few small circles of Inka Gold.

Once everything was dried I stamped the fabric with a rubber stamp called Flying Stars by Penny Black using Black Stazon Ink, then I added a sentiment and a die cut gold butterfly. To finish the tag I added gold fibers and some small pieces of bling.

I liked the effect of the Inka Gold on the fabric but it does not shine the way it does on some surfaces.  You can get a little shine by buffing it with a soft cloth carefully in the direction of the fibers.  I like the way bits of the texture of the upholstery fabric come through the paint.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.  Now back to my craft room to clean up the mess.

Stain Resist Technique

Technique Junkies' had a card swap this month where you got to chose a technique from one of their magazines or Cds .  I chose the stained resist technique to make the background of this card.  I embossed my background image by Stamp Barn with white embossing powder and then used distress stains to colour the background.

I am not sure who made the rubber stamp lady, it is from my stash of unmounted rubber stamps.  The sentiment and the little tages are a punch and stamp from Stampin Up.  I coloured my image with Copic markers, added a ribbon, and heart to complete the card. Thanks for looking.  Have a creative week.

It's a Birthday Party

At one of my favourite card Yahoo card groups, the Rubber Inkers are having a swap of cascade cards.  I thought it would be fun to do a birthday cascade card. This is the front of my card with Desmond Donkey by Paper Pretties.

Here is one side view

And here is the other side with Cotton Candee by Paper Pretties.

I had fun creating the card. I loved using the two digital images by Paper Pretties together.  I also used many other products on the card including: paper from the recycle bin, rubbers stamps, Copic markers, Distress inks, paper by My Mind's Eye, die cuts and glitter.

Well my card is ready for mailing and my craft room is a disaster. Time to do some clean up. Thank you for stopping to take a look.

Creative Folds - Surprise Pop Up Card

Paige has a great challenge at Holy Jolly Christmas Challenges this week, Creative Folds.  This is a great time to try one of those card folds you have seen on Split Coast Stampers or Pinterest and have another Christmas card completed for this year.

I chose the surprise pop up card pattern I found on Split Coast Stampers by Beate.  You can find the instructions here.  The image I chose for the card is by Fred, She Said Designs called Christmas Rosey.  Isn't he cute.

This was a fun challenge and i hope you will join us.  If you need some inspiration just pop by the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge Blog and see the other creations the Chrismtas Elves have made this week to inspire you.

Playing with Inka Gold

This was the first time I have used Inka Gold on a card and I like the effect.

For the background I used my fingers to rub on the three colours with my finger, Violet, Green Yellow and Old Gold. Once paint dried I buffed it to a shine with a piece of paper towel.  The flower and leaves are by Fred, She Said Designs from the happy flowers and sentiment collection of digital stamps. To colour the flowers with Cobalt Blue Inka Gold I painted them by mixing some Inka Gold with water.

I added my sentiment and ribbon ans my card is complete.  Thank you for stopping by to see my card.  I liked the Inka Gold and I would like to play with the product more.

Born to Shop

Hi fellow card makers.  My card is based on a sketch which was my choice this week at Come and Get It Challenges this week and here is the sketch  ....

This was a simple card to make, I used two different square punches to make the shopping bags and added some twine to make the handles.  It is a great little pattern for using up some scraps.

I stamped the background paper with a flourish stamp by Bo Bunny and Distress Inks.   I added some rows of bling to the shopping bags, a ribbon and a pearl and the card was complete.

I titled my card "born to shop"  - it should have read "Born to shop for craft supplies". Hope you will join us this week at Come and Get It. Thank you for stopping by and have a great day.

Thank you to a Friend

I made this card tonight to say "thank you" to a friend for all of his hard work for a volunteer group I belong to. The pattern papers I used for the card are from the Tim Holtz collection  and the rubber stamps I used are all from my unmounted collection of stamps.  I added several layers of pattern and plain paper along with sme string and a button to give the card some interest.

I hope he enjoys the card.  Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Hark the Harold Angels Sing

My turn to host the challenge this week at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges and I chose Christmas Music as the theme of the challenge.  Lots of possibilities for this challenge, the card could have an actual Christmas Carol on it, Carolers, or a scene picturing a Christmas song theme are some of the possibilities that come to mind.

I chose to use a Hark the Harold Angel sheet of  music from Vintage Feed Sacks' blog  for the background of my card.  I used Tea Dye Distress Ink to age the the sheet.

The rubber stamp I used of the two angels is from my collection of rubber stamps by a company called Lazar Studio Werx. I added some colours to the wings and dress of the angels with my chalks. I love the vintage feeling of the card.

Hope you will join us this week at Holly Jolly and have a  great week creating.

It's a Beautiful Day

Fred, She Said Designs has a wonderful new set of digital stamps that have been just released.  The set is called, Happy Flowers & Sentiments and includes many different sizes of flowers for layering they come coloured (oh so many happy colours) and also a package of images not coloured for you to get out your colouring pens and inks to colour them they way you would like them.  The set also included a bunch of digital sentiment stamps.  What a bargin this set is.

I have been traveling so I chose to use the set that I had to add my own colours to, I did not have my colour printer with me on vacation. My flowers and laves were coloured with several colours of distress inks and Martha Stewart coloured glitter. I used the same distress inks to colour the background of the card and a flourish die cut to tie my flowers together.  The sentiment is an old stamp in my collection by Rubber Stampede.

Don't these flowers make such a happy card. Stop over to Fred's store and check out the set.   Oh the possibilities.
