Life and Balance

I made this mix media tag for an anything goes swap at Yahoo Group, Inky Fun Stampers. I decided to make this mix media tag from some left over scraps of Gelli Plate prints I had made awhile ago.  I used acrylic paint to create the design along with several stencils.

I used a butterfly stamp by Tim Holtz to stamp on the tag, added some doodles,  and a piece of seam binding to complete the tag.  Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.

I am entering this tag in the following challenges:

Encaustic Dream Heart

I have made this encaustic heart for this month's Altered Eclectics' anything goes challenge.  Altered Eclectics is an exciting challenge blog for mix media, altered art, up-cycling and recycling.

I am new to playing with encaustic wax so I had fun experimenting with the medium. To make my project I first used an encaustic iron to add the colours (purple, silver and turquoise)  my background.   I added some glass beads to the wax for some sparkle. I used a similar method to make my heart and mounted it on white cardstock before adding it to the background.

The key and stars are metal pieces that I used wax to adhere them to the project.  To complete the piece I used my encaustic stylus tool to add the lettering and the black trim around the edges of the heart.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day. Remember to stop by the Altered Eclectics blog to see the projects that the talented design team has created to inspire you.

Join in the Fun at Not Just Cards

Welcome to another challenge at Not Just Cards,  The them as always is anything goes.

My first project is a Easter tag using an image from one of our great sponsors, The Stamping Boutique. The image is called Pocket Patootie Easter Bunny.   This tag opens from the top with a place to add your message and is held together with a magnet. I coloured him with Copic markers, did some doodling and added the red ribbon to complete the tag.

For my second project I decided to wrap a box with a black and gold napkin and us my image from another one of our sponsors, The East Wind.   The image is called Hipster Sakura Kimono girl .  I coloured he with my copic markers and glitter and added a dragon fly embellishment.

Mix Media Tag with Flowers

I made this mix media a tag for a upcoming tag exchange at Yahoo Group,  Inky Fun Stampers.  The theme of the challenge was flowers and I chose to use a stamp by Penny Black for the tag.

I cut out my tag using the tag die from Tim Holtz and used distress inks and water to create my muted background. The image was stamped on a slant on the tag.  To add some colour to the image is used markers.  Next I stamped the image a second time on some Gelli print paper  from my stash and cut out the butterfly to give it some depth.  To complete my tag I sprayed it with Goose Bumps for a wet effect and added a glittery ribbon from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.

This was a fun card and very simply done.  I think it is telling me spring is here and time to get out the bicycle. Hope my partner enjoys it.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a very creative day.

Heritage Plaque

I just finished a encaustic wax class and decided to use what I learned on this vintage plaque I was Making.  The digital image from the vintage collection from CS Designs.   I thought the image suited my design of burlap, old lace, and flowers. To check out CS Design's beautiful art work check it out here

This is what I started with.

Here are some closer views.

The white flower was handmade by my friend Paige and I made the pink flowers.  The flowers, burlap, and frame were dipped in bees wax.  I coloured my image with Panpastels and added everything to a wooden cutting board. To complete the project I added a metal heritage tag from my stash.

Get Creative with Not Just Cards Anything Goes Challenge

These are my two projects I made for this week's challenge at Not Just Cards. the first image I used was by one of our sponsors, QKR Stampede  called Painter Rabbit.   I coloured my image and cut him out.   Thought it would be cute to put in a nest of Easter Eggs to be coloured.

My second project is a image from Sticky Bear called BBKates - Cool Buddy's.  I coloured the image and then added some Diamond Glaze to give the glasses some texture.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a creative day. Hope you will join us this week at Not Just Cards.

Anything Goes Challenge but must include Recycling

It is a Anything Goes Challenge this week at Recycle, Re-Purpose and Re-invent.

    This is my project

This is what I started with

Wooden lid from a box, silver Duck tape, and plain and textured
    cardboard paper.

    Shower hooks and napkin rings

    Another view of the project.

I covered my box with the silver Duck Tape and lined the inside of the project with the textured cardboard that I got from a friend.  It's original use was the wrapping off of her stained glass that she purchased it.  I dried brushed the textured  paper with silver acrylic paint.  I really liked the effect.  The metal rose and the hanger at the top of the box is a napkin ring that I took a part.

I used a few of CS Designs images from their Steampunk digital stamp collection. I used Solitaire Heavy metal , Metal phrases,  and a sentiment from the  Artistic Sentiment collection called Somewhere Between Chance & Mystery. The two metal pieces holding the words are part of a set of shower rings that I purchased at a thrift store.

I added a few more recycle findings from my stash to complete the project.  I used more than 10 recycled articles in this project. I had lots of fun putting this project together.

I hope you will join us this week at Recycle, Re-Purpose and Re-invent

321 Challenge at Come and Get It Challenges

Come and Get It Challenges this week has a 321 Challenge 3 embellishments, 2 papers, 1 image. Scrapper’s Delight is one of the sponsors and I fell in love with this  Harlequin 1 Digi.  I think she is beautiful.

I coloured the image before I made my total plan for the card.  Once I had coloured her I realized that I did not have any patter paper in my stash to go with the colours I had chosen so I decided to make my own pattern paper for the card. I used a diamond stencil for the background and blue acrylic paint.  My second paper was from my stash but did not quite fit my plan so I outlined the diamonds and edges with a blue pen to make them stand out and tie the papers together.  My three embellishments are the stars dye cut out of foil sliver paper.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you pop over to the Come and Get It Challenges blog to see the cards the other designers created to inspire you.

Another Great Challenge from Not Just Cards

Welcome to another challenge at Not Just Cards.  The theme is anything goes just create your project or card and enter it in the challenge.  This week I created two projects for the challenge.

My first project is a tag an image from  All Dressed Up  called Cool dudes  . I coloured the image with my Copic markers, added some snowflakes and a little glitter and my little tag was complete.

My second project is a simple Easter basket using an image from Robyn's Fetish called  Waking Up Birdie .   I found this lovely basket at the thrift store that I thought would make a lovely Easter Basket. I created my embellishments for the basket with the image, layered it on the basket and added my Happy Easter sentiment also by Robyn's Fetish.

    Doctor, Doctor

CS Designs is having another exciting recycle challenge this week. Anything goes but must be recycling.

This is what I started with for the project but in the end did not use two of the wooden books and the old silver penny bank.

    This is my completed project.

This is what I started my project with.

I was excited to use two of CS Design's from their new Vintage images. I coloured my box lettuce green.  I also used copies of some original prescriptions that I found at an antique store in Superior, Arizona this winter.  They were dated 1919 and mostly came from the state of New York.  They were a real find. For the background I used the antique paper bag .
    Closer look

This wooden book that I antiqued originally was part of a set of three that had a wooden teddy bear sitting on it.  The teddy bear was used in another project.  I used Kroma and red acrylic paint to get the aged effect on the book.

    Top of the Assemblage

I added a wooden knob to the top of the box , added a metal star , more prescriptions and a ink pen.   I love the new vintage images that can now be found in the CS Designs Digital Stamp Store

Thank you for stopping by to take a look. I hope you will join us in this challenge. Just create your recycled project and enter it here.

I am entering this project in the following challenges:

          Mix Media Tag

I am this Mix Media Tag  for a tag swap at Inky Fun Stampers this month.  The theme of the swap is to create a tag with a face on it. I used a Prima Cling stamp for the challenge called  .
I stamped the image on my tag material and coloured her with my Copic Markers. I made a mask and covered the coloured image,  I then proceeded to create a background with acrylic paints, gell plate and several stencils.   Once I had the background o where I liked it I took a charcoal pencil and created a shadow around the image to give it some depth.   I also added some stars to my ladies dress.

To complete my Tag I added some numbers, lace , sentiment by Stampin Up and a bow.  Hope my partner in the challenge likes my tag.
