Encaustic Wax Butterfly Canvas

Time for a new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and the theme is butterflies.  Who does not like butterflies.

I decided instead of a card I would make a canvas in the theme of butterflies with Encaustic Wax.  It had been a while since I have had my bee wax out and it was fun to create with it.

I used layers of wax , Tim Holtz  tissue paper, some coloured wax,  and Panpastels to create the background design.  I then used a couple of butterflies from a napkins to create the design along with some brown oil paint to add some edging.

When Pigs Fly

This is my project for the Anything goes Challenge at Bleeding Art for May. I decided to use this old party hat from my stash along with a Flying pig I also has in my stash.

I painted the hat with grey gesso.  It took quite a few layers since the hat was a very absorbent felt type material.

With a mold I added texture.

I cut up this belt and painted it with gesso and acrylic paint.

I found this flying pig at a thrift store which I painted.

I painted the hat shades of brown and gold and then added a gear from an old mixer  I then also added  a butterfly, belt pieces for earrings and necklace, gears, words, eye lids and pennies.

Butterfly Tag Book

Time for another challenge at Creative Artiste this month.  The theme is always mixed media/anything goes.

To make my book I decided to use my scraps from my stash which included Gelli prints and scrapbook pages. I used CD Literature folders for the base of the book.

More views of the book.

To create the front of the book I printed an image from Bugaboo Digital Stamps called Dandelions and Butterflies on white card stock.  I then scribbled regular crayon on the paper to create the background which I melted by ironing the crayon . If you try this please make sure you are in a well ventilated area because heating the crayon gives off fumes.  I also added Nuvo Clear Crystal drops, and a die cut butterfly and gems.  The background paper is part of my Gelli Plate stash.

Along with Gelli prints I die cut for the butterflies, back grounds I used a rubber stamp by Indigo Blu called Bubbles

Along with Gelli plate prints I also used some designer scrapbook paper.

Tags I used in the book

All the stamps I used for the tags are from my stash also.
