Gone Fishing

Time for another great  Anything Goes challenge at Through the Craft Room Door.

I have chosen to do a fishing scene for this challenge.  I have someone special I would like to give this card to for their birthday. I used a digital image by Power Poppy for the card, the image is called Fly Guy.

I coloured the image with copics, added a fly rubber stamp and a die cut net to complete the card.  I hope my friend will enjoy the card.

Steampunk Blog Hop

I am excited we are having a Steampunk Blog Hop and this is my altered steampunk mannequin I made for this event.  Hope you love steampunk art as much as I do.

A friend gave me this mannequin bodice that I added lace to, then painted with gesso and purple and blue fabric spray paints to give the dress colour.

Along with the paints, crackle mix, acrylic paints etc I used metal pieces from my stash.  The belt is a metal belt from a Thrift Store, the buckle is part of a drawer pulley system, the chain around her neck was off of the belt, the necklace piece was part of a drawer system also.

The top of the straps on the dress were kitchen cupboard door hinges and the straps and buttons were made form some  gears that I added a rust affect on them.

Some closer looks

The necklace is made from  door lock mechanism and part of a metal belt from a thrift store.

The metal belt and key are from a local thrift store that I used a rust techniquic on them. The center of a belt is part of a mechanics for a drawer.

The straps of the dress are made with gears and a couple of door hinges.

This is my project for this month using some beautiful rice paper from ITD Collection.

I was inspired by the colours of the moodboard with the combination of white with a little bit of  green and pink and ITD Collections of papers.

I used a found old frame that had hooks attached to use as a canvas for my project.

The process I used was:

I added several layers of thick paint to the frame (Pink , white and green)

Next I sand papered parts of the paint off to give the frame an aging effect letting the different layers and colours to show through.

My next step was to add the beautiful rice papers from our sponsor ITD Collection, I used two different papers from their collection. I first used the rose paper on the frame and in the center of the project I layered the second rice paper.  One of the papers I tore the papers to give them a more worn look.  I then added a butterfly.

My last step was to add some antiquing solution to give the frame another layer to add to the aging effect.
