Mixed Media Challenge

We have a mixed media challenge at Come and Get It challenges this week and this canvas is my project this week. The cute steam punk image is called Sad Teddy Bear and is by one of our sponsors SLS Lines

Our definition of mixed media for this challenge is

"For this challenge mixed media means creating a card, tag or project using any of the following in addition to the usual stamps, digital images and inks:
Mediums that add texture such as fabric, texture paste, gesso, embossing paste,
Mediums that give dimension such as die cuts, chipboard, embellishments, recycled material
Mediums used for different techniques and colours such as watercolor, alcohol inks, acrylic paints
Project created using tools such as a gelli plate, stencils etc
In other words a card, tag or project that has at least 2 of the above mediums."
To make my canvas I used several stencils with molding paste, a selection of inks, die cut gears and  Apothecary bottles by Tim Holtz, acrylic paints, and micro bead.

Guest Designer at Retro Rubber

I am so happy to be a guest designer at Retro Rubber Challenge blog this week.   I made this card for their "winter scene"  challenge this week.

The idea of this challenge blog is that they require you to use at least one rubber stamp that you have in your stash that is over a year old.  I have used several stamps by a friend, Lisa Yang of Local Rubber King.  The card was made with using three snowman stamps along with a sentiment by A Muse Artstamps.

The piano player can be found on the Local Rubber King blog but I think the cello player and drummer are no longer available. I extended the hill line and added a couple of snowflakes to tie the 3 stamps together.  I coloured the image with Copics and added Deep Impression embossing enamel for the snow.

Thank you Retro Rubber for inviting me this week.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.

Monsters in Love

I has so much fun making this Love Monsters card  as my inspirational post for SLS Lines

I used a gelli print from my stash for the background and used it's colours  for the colour scheme of my card.  I like using gelli print because it allows me to then use non-traditional colours. I make many gelli prints when I have my paint, inks and supplies out. They are so handy for making art journal pages and mixed media cards.  If I have one that I especially like I will scan it and use the print over and over again.

My Love Monsters  was coloured with Copics and I added some die cuts and fabric flowers to complete my card.   I know my hubby will enjoy it.   He likes humorous card.  The image is just so cute.

Check SLS Lines out on Facebook and their challenge blog.

Mixed Media Chalk Board

This is my project for this month's challenge at Creative Artiste.  I made a chalk board for keeping track of my craft supplies shopping.

This is what I started with, a old wooden calendar holder I found at a thrift store.  I added some cardboard corners to allow me to add more findings.

Most of my findings came from garage sales, thrift store and the dollar store.  I added all of my findings to the project with heavy matter gell then painted them all with grey gesso. After the Gesso had dried I used ink sprays to add colour and Tin Pewter acrylic paint to highlight the findings and give the project shine.

Closer look
