I had fun making my altered box.  I love using old wooden canasters for my canvas. They are very reasonable to purchase at a thrift stores (most the time cheaper than a canvas).  The insides usually has a removable plastic liner, which allows you to use your decorated box for many uses.  This box will be used house a birthday gift for a dear friend.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week.

Creative Artiste February - Anything Mixed Media Goes

Time for another great challenge at Creative Artiste this month.

Our theme is always

"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects. Please respect that we do not currently accept Instagram or Facebook entries. Only correctly linked blog entries please.

This is my project for this month, an altered canaster.

I had fun making my altered mixed media box.  I love using old wooden canasters for my canvas. They are very reasonable to purchase at thrift stores (most the time cheaper than a canvas).  The insides usually have a removable plastic liner, which allows you to use your altered/mixed media box for many uses.  This box will be part of a gift for my grandson, I thick it will be used for some fishing tackle I have for him.

This is what I started with, one of the small wooden box from a set of wooden canasters.

Here are some other views of the box.

The top to the box was made from an cork bottle top I had in my stash,  along with some findings.

To alter my canaster I used the following products:

Gesso
Pentart -Lasure - Chestnut
Pentart -Lasure - Pine
DecoArt -  Heavenly Hues - Hunter Green
Sophisticated Finishes
Pentart - Finishing Waxes
Wooden gears and cogs
Stencils
Ink
