Explosion of Colour

The theme this week for the challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is Explosion of Colour.  I made this card for my sister's birthday this month.

To create this card I used Brusho on glossy card stock.  I first stamped my card stock with several background stamps from my collection before I added the Brusho colours of purple and turquoise.
To complete the card I added two laced butterflies that I also added Brusho colour to.  My final touch was adding some white pearls and lace.

Peggy's Cove

Time for another "anything mixed media" challenge at Creative Artiste this month.

The term “mixed media art” is a broad definition that covers many forms of arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage, altered objects, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) tags and art journaling  as long as you use different mediums.
The “mixed media” used includes paint, paper, pastes, sprays, powders, textural elements, clay, resins, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal, inks, pencils, markers and pastels to name just a few.

Our sponsor this month is Scrapmatts  Papertole Australia

Scrapmatts has a large selection of chipboard projects, stencils, papertole projects etc.

For this month project I made a mixed media canvas for one of my favourite places we visited during this years summer holidays, Peggy's Cove,  Nova Scotia.

Peggy's cove is a beautiful fishing village with colourful  historical old homes, lobster traps and the iconic lighthouse.  I loved the pictures that I took that day and had a hard time choosing ones for my project.

I used our sponsor's Chipboard String Circles on my project.  I also used acrylic paints, inks,  molding paste, Posca pens, finding such as button, lobster, starfish,  and pearls.

Crafty Cardmakers has a great ribbon or lace challenge this month and I created this card for this challenge.

I made this card with an old unmounted rubber stamp that has been in my collection for years.  She is coloured with Copics and I used also pencil crayons, acrylic paints, and Distress Inks.

I added some acrylic paint to my designer paper and inked the edges with Distress Inks.  To complete my card I added lace and ribbon.

This is what I started with

Autumn Leaves

It is October 1st and time for another challenge at Eclectic Ellapu and the theme of the challenge is " Autumn".

I purchased some of Seth Apter's new Baked Texture and decided to use it on my autumn theme card. My large leaves are bunched leaves that I first coloured with distressed inks and stamped them with a sentiment stamp.  Once my inks had dried I used several layers of Baked Texture in the colours of altered page and chunky rust.

The background paper is coloured with distress inks and stamped with a word stamp. The sentiment on my tag is a stamp from my collection of unmounted stamps  and the maker of this stamp has slipped my mind.   The stamp's sentiment is by John Muir, "The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and ..... "

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week. Hope you will join our autumn theme challenge this month.

Just Because

For this month's project over at Altered Eclectics I created this small canvas using a couple of old sewing patterns.

My background is sewing pattern paper and some dictionary paper which I coloured with corduroy coloured Distress Inks and added faux stitches. I added a sentiment that I saw on a dress store window one day on holidays.

To add detail to my canvas  I added jute, Crushed Grape Nuvo, a metal computer piece I used for the belt, pearls, lace and a sequins.
