Welcome Spring

My time to host the challenge this week over at Crafty Cardmakers and the theme of this week's challenge is  "Spring".

With any luck Spring is springing where you are, so we would love to see your Spring creations. Spring Colours will also be acceptable.

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece or home decor, as long as it meets the theme.

For this challenge I made a card using a stamp fro Elizabeth Craft Designs called Birds and Branches.  To colour my card I used Copic markers, white Gel pen  and pencil crayons then added Pentart rainbow glitter and white Nuvo Crystal.   Drops. The sentiment is an old stamp from my collection by Studio G.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week.

Life is Art. Paint Your Dreams ....

Welcome everyone to our March Moodboard Challenge over at Splashy Mix Challenges.

Here is this month's inspiring moodboard.  I just love the colour scheme.

I have created this mixed media canvas  inspired by the moodboard.

Steps I used to create my project.

I painted my canvas with gesso and then used Distressed Oxide Sprays in the colours of  Picked Raspberries and Wilted Violet to colour the canvas.

My next step was to cover the canvas with a Tim Holtz  idea-ology tissue wrap which I used a Gloss medium to affix the tissue to my canvas.

My face was stenciled with this fantastic stencil by Stencil Girl called Pretty as a Peacock and purple  acrylic paint. The background paint for the stencil was made using both the Picked Raspberries and Wilted Violet Distress Ink Oxide sprays.

I then added some white markings to the canvas with white acrylic paint and a stencil by the Crafter's Workshop.

The sentiment that I added to the canvas is a old  rubber stamp from my stash by Stampendous called Life is Art.

I hope my canvas inspires you and that you will join us this month.  Just create your project and enter it here.   If you want to know more about my project and the steps and products I used please see my blog In Search of My Creative Side.

Advice for Someone Who is 60

Time for another challenge this month at Creative Artiste. I made a birthday book for a friend that just turned 60.  The book is made from 3 CD Literature folders put together.  I used some pretty designer paper for the book along Tim Holtz's Birds, Dina Wakleys birds, acrylic paints, posta pens, stencils, inks,  Pentart pens, ribbons, die cuts, clasps, tags, envelopes, pieces of my Gel prints,   a selection of tags and saying  of findings and mediums.

There are some of the pages from the book.

Here are a few of the tags

Some os my bird's hats  were from the die Times collection but many were from parts of other stamps and digital images I have.

I had a ton of fun making this birthday book.

You can find the instructions for the basic folds etc of this book on  You Tube.  The video is called Pop Pop Fizz Fizz by Trish Morris.  I have varied the instructions to suit my book along with adding my own ideas.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week.
