Welcome to my crafting blog. After retirement, my husband and I moved to a beautiful location in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. I love all paper crafts including mixed media, journaling and cards. I also dabble in papermaking, photography, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media groups and on the design team of several challenge blog. I love the world of blogging, it has opened many doors for me. My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” I hope you join me in my search for my creative side. Thanks for stopping by!

September 2025 - Challenge at 613 Avenue Create. - ANYTHING GOES W/ OPTIONAL TWIST LOTS OF LEAVES

Time for another challenge at 613 Avenue Create

This is my card for this challenge.

I do love using leaves on my card. The brown background paper with the little leaves is from my stash but unfortunately  I have lost the cover of the paper stack and I do not know who's the designer of the paper is. The paper is so pretty. The textured brown paper that I added the black dots to is the glass wrapping paper from a friend studio.

The leaves are die cuts from a set of dies by Time Holtz.   I added a small ribbon to connect the two leaves.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week. Remember to pop over to our challenge blog at 613 Avenue Create, to see the beautiful creations for our talented design team.

Creative Artist September 2025 - Mixed Media Art Journal

Welcome to another challenge at Creative Artiste

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects.

The term “mixed media art” is a broad definition that covers many forms of arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage, altered objects, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) tags and art journaling  as long as you use different mediums.

The “mixed media” used includes paint, paper, pastes, sprays, powders, textural elements, clay, resins, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal, inks, pencils, markers and pastels to name just a few.

The best thing with Mixed Media is there is no right or wrong way of doing things. There are no boundaries or rules to follow, it is all about where your creativity takes you. Mixed media can be kept simple with minimal clean lines, or as fussy and manic as you like. It's a great way to use up your scraps too, we all are guilty of keeping those little bits and pieces thinking it's too nice to just through away, even those teeny tiny off cuts of ribbon and lace.

Mixed Media is also a great way to upcycle because anything goes. Empty packaging, glass jars or bottles can be transformed. Got a pack of cards that have a few missing - turn them into little mini pieces of art. The possibilities are endless.
Make mixed media work for you, don't doubt yourself thinking you can't do this that or the other because it's might not be your style etc., just add your own twist
 to things.

This is my project for this month, a few more pages I have added to one of my art journal book.

This is my project for this month

                                      Judy McKay for Creative Artiste

This was my first page I added to this week's journal pages.

I used a selection of inks and stamping for the background. The flower stamp is from my  collection of unmounted rubber stamp. I used a black pen to add definition to my circles.
The flowers are coloured with Pan Pastels.

Some tags from my scraps I started with to make my tags for this page.

For the tags I used a combination of acrylic paint, tissue paper, inks, rubber stamps,  inks and found ribbon

Thank you for joining us ar Creative Artiste this month. Hope to see you back here again soon. Remember to pop over to our challenge blog  to be inspired by our talented design team.
