About Me

My photo
Okanagan, BC, Canada
Welcome to my crafting blog. After retirement, my husband and I moved to a beautiful location in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. I love all paper crafts including mixed media, journaling and cards. I also dabble in papermaking, photography, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media groups and on the design team of several challenge blog. I love the world of blogging, it has opened many doors for me. My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” I hope you join me in my search for my creative side. Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Artiste - September Mixed Challenge

Welcome to another challenge at Creative Artiste

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects.

The term “mixed media art” is a broad definition that covers many forms of arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage, altered objects, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) tags and art journaling  as long as you use different mediums.

The “mixed media” used includes paint, paper, pastes, sprays, powders, textural elements, clay, resins, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal, inks, pencils, markers and pastels to name just a few.

The best thing with Mixed Media is there is no right or wrong way of doing things. There are no boundaries or rules to follow, it is all about where your creativity takes you. Mixed media can be kept simple with minimal clean lines, or as fussy and manic as you like. It's a great way to use up your scraps too, we all are guilty of keeping those little bits and pieces thinking it's too nice to just through away, even those teeny tiny off cuts of ribbon and lace.

Mixed Media is also a great way to upcycle because anything goes. Empty packaging, glass jars or bottles can be transformed. Got a pack of cards that have a few missing - turn them into little mini pieces of art. The possibilities are endless.
Make mixed media work for you, don't doubt yourself thinking you can't do this that or the other because it's might not be your style etc., just add your own twist
 to things.

My October Mixed Media Project

My inspiration from a book I found at a thrift store - called BC Rail

by Chris Harris

I textured the canvas for my collage using Acrylic paints  and sprays to create an antiquing effect.

I added a found black ring

This is my October Mixed Media Project

Judy McKay for Creative Artiste

I had a few gears and clogs, and several stamped saying from some stamps from my stash.  I also used a rubber stamp called Steam Punk Man by Sheene Douglas.

This was a fun mixed media project.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week. Remember to stop by our challenge blog to view the inspiring projects from our design team.
Hope you will join this challenge. I would love to see your project.
