Welcome to my crafting blog. After retirement, my husband and I moved to a beautiful location in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. I love all paper crafts including mixed media, journaling and cards. I also dabble in papermaking, photography, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media groups and on the design team of several challenge blog. I love the world of blogging, it has opened many doors for me. My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” I hope you join me in my search for my creative side. Thanks for stopping by!

Fishing at Sunset

I was playing tonight with my alcohol inks and this fisherman stamp called "It doesn't get much better" from the Thomas Kinkade collection of Cornish Heritage Farms rubber stamps. It was a sad day when the company went out of business. I really enjoyed their lines of stamps.

Bird in Flight

I like this combination of stamps that I used today to create this card. The stamps I think complement each other. The bird stamp is from Inkadinkado stamps and the flowers are from the Magenta line of stamps. I blended pink, blue and purple Copic markers to give the card some colour.

I made this card for an upcoming weekly card swap which I have been participating in for over 8 years. It can sometimes be a challenge to come up with new ideas.

Now back to stamping and designing some different cards for my upcoming swaps.

Dress Making Card

Today’s card is a simple layered card where I coloured and pop dotted the spool of thread that I wrapped in a knobbly piece of wool. The dress stamp is by Renaisance Art Stamps and the dressmaking fashion design stamp is another unknown unmounted stamp. I really need a method of recording my unmounted stamps. My newer stamps I have gotten smarter and have kept the packaging that the stamp came in.

Larkspur Flowers

This card I created for an upcoming swap with the theme of Larkspur, July’s flower of the month. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch, the Larkspur stamp is an unknown unmounted stamp and the well used sentiment stamp, “Just for You” is by Rubber Stampede.

Sunshine in the Rain

I have been away from my stamp room this week because I was visiting my oldest grandson in Victoria. Of course I had to visit my two favourite Victoria stamp stores, Stampers and Lasting Impressions while there and purchased a few new stamps that were calling my name. You can never have too many stamps.

Tonight’s card was inspired by a side step card that used the Flourishes set called “Spring Flowers” on Splitcoaststampers site awhile ago. I just loved the stamp set and had to have it.

I combined parts of the Flourishes’ set with Penny Black’s “Sunshine in the Rain” stamp and came up with this card design. I coloured the card with Copic Markers and added Diamond Glaze to make the buttons shiny and to give the puddle a watery effect.

Well back to my craft room I go. We are off camping next week and I need to organize my craft tote so that I can take material along with me to make cards in the evening.

Accordion Postage Stamp Booklet

Tonights creation was inspired by pocket accordion booklet I admired in a book by a Victoria artist Marie Browning called "Handcrafted Journals, Albums, Scrapbooks & More".

Wild One

Tonight’s card was created for a swap I am participating in with a theme of “Cat”. I created a jungle/lion card using a modified version of the easel card found on Splitcoaststampers.

I layered several different animal print papers, rolling and inking the edges and using my Big Shot to die cut the papers into different shapes. To make the easel card stand up by itself, I add two copper brads. The brads keep the card from closing.

Well back to my stamp room for more stamping.

Sewing Collage

Tonights card is a collage that I created for a card swap which you were to include buttons on your cards. The stamps I used on this card are:

Sewing pattern - Tim Holtz
Pattern of friendship - Stampin Up
Sewing bobbin and Dressmaking stamps - unknown

Along with combining the stamped images and papers I added buttons, stitching for trim, copper brads and a small twisted fabric button.

Now back to my stamp room to clean up.
