It is time for another great challenge at Altered Eclectics. The challenge is always anything goes as long as it is mixed media or altered art.
This is what I decided to alter, a felt hat from an old costume.
I used quite a few techniques to create my project. I also made a couple of boo boos. My mannequin head was made of Styrofoam and I did not know that if I sprayed it with an aerosol paint that the Styrofoam would melt. The faced bubbled up and melted in spots. I may use it in a Halloween project. In the end I painted a new head with white carpenter's glue and gesso. Once the head was sealed I decoupaged dictionary pages on the head then spray painted the face.
I used gesso on my hat before I painted it black. The side decoration was a combination of Tim Holtz dies and metal pieces from an old belt. I also used metal pieces from a couple of old belts I found at a thrift store. To create the rust effect I used acrylic paint, molding paste and cinnamon.
I had fun making my project. I loved the metal pieces I found in the belt section of the thrift store. Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day. Remember to pop over to our challenge blog to see the inspiring projects of our design team.
