A PLACE TO START JULY CHALLENGE - ANYTHING GOES w/OPTIONAL TWIST: VELLUM

Time for another great challenge at A Place to Start this month.

The Challenge this month as always is Anything Goes with an optional Twist. This month's twist is to use vellum in your design.

The vellum I used for this card has gold flex's in the design.  The embossing folder I used was an old one from my stash. I used blue background paper, Copic markers for colouring , vellum butterflies from some left over vellum from my staff. I also added some gems to give the card some sparkle.  I used a thin black sharpie to add a border on the card.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative month. Hope you will join us this month at A Place to Start

Hello fellow crafters. Time for another great challenge at 613 Avenue create. As always the challenge is anything goes and this months optional twist is to create something for and holidays.

Challenge Twist:  Any holiday (create something for any holiday)

My holiday that I chose for this challenge is a Christmas theme card.

I have had this cat theme knocking down the Christmas tree stamp for many years,  The stamp is from Technique Junkies one of my favourite companies from when I first started crafting. They also has a wonderful
technique news letter  that I reference still today.

The products I used for this card were:

Christmas tree die cut
Christmas designer paper from my stash
Christmas decoration (stars) - die cuts out of foil from my stash

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week. I hope you will join us this week, never to early to start your Christmas cards .

Creative Artiste - July 2025 - Mixed Media "Anything Goes"

Welcome to another challenge at Creative Artiste
Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects.

The term “mixed media art” is a broad definition that covers many forms of arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage, altered objects, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) tags and art journaling  as long as you use different mediums.

The “mixed media” used includes paint, paper, pastes, sprays, powders, textural elements, clay, resins, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal, inks, pencils, markers and pastels to name just a few.

The best thing with Mixed Media is there is no right or wrong way of doing things. There are no boundaries or rules to follow, it is all about where your creativity takes you. Mixed media can be kept simple with minimal clean lines, or as fussy and manic as you like. It's a great way to use up your scraps too, we all are guilty of keeping those little bits and pieces thinking it's too nice to just through away, even those teeny tiny off cuts of ribbon and lace.

Mixed Media is also a great way to upcycle because anything goes. Empty packaging, glass jars or bottles can be transformed. Got a pack of cards that have a few missing - turn them into little mini pieces of art. The possibilities are endless.
Make mixed media work for you, don't doubt yourself thinking you can't do this that or the other because it's might not be your style etc., just add your own twist
 to things.

This is my project for July, a collage of old movies posts, faces etc.

This was my inspiration for the collage that I found at a thrift store, movie reels.

To create my Mixed Media Collage of Old Movies I used the following products:

Old wooden frames used in reverse
decorative film reels
assortment of acrylic paints
wooden lettering and stars
stencil and distress inks
Gold
Dimensional
Pearls and Stickles
pictures of movie stars from my stash,
magazines, and from eBay
Copic Markers for colouring a couple of hand drawn film making tools
do you recognize a few of the movies and the stars.
The bowl of popcorn is from an Orville Redenbacher's package. For the bowl, I added acrylic modelling paste for texture and acrylic paint.

This is the back ground I created for my project.

Close up of a few sections on the collage.
