Creative Artiste - November's Mixed Media Challenge

Time for another great mixed media challenge over at Creative Artiste.

 Our theme is always

"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

Please make sure you use multiple mediums on your projects. Please respect that we do not currently accept Instagram entries. Only correctly linked blog entries please.

For this months challenge I decided it would be fun to make a Junk Art Journal.

This is the cover for my journal.

I used an image from Kenny K for my cover to my book along with two die cut clocks and die cuts from an old die cut by Tim Holtz for Sizzix called alterations.
.  The paper pack that inspired my project was my friend at PipArt  and her companies line of paper  called ShokART Sisters Collection. A lot the papers I used for the project were from their collection along with papers from my stash.

This is how I put together the art journal together.  I got the directions from a you tube video by Nina Ribena called Use your scraps 2022 . She also has a number of other videos on Art Journal ideas.

This is how I constructed the box.

The inside of the journal was lined with some wrapping paper that I added some gesso to tone down the colour.

This is the inside cover of my book and I used  a steampunk bird from the paper pack, added a wooden crown and a large gears die cut along with other little details.

This is the last page of the book and the inside cover.  I used a wood steampunk mannequin that I dressed in the birthday paper and used an antique paint technique on the clogs and gears. I also added a necklace and a metal belt to the dress.

The beads I create for the back of the book.   I used some wooden beads, gears and clots that I created an antique finish on.

A couple of pages I created for the journal.  I have lots of pages to fill over the next little while. Lots of creative real estate in my journal.

I added some ATC's I made using an antique finish and metal computer parts.

I created this page using a napkin, wooden frog, stencil, die cut and butterflies.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative month.  Hope you will join us this month.

Mechanical Maiden

Time for another great challenge at Creative Artiste this month.

Creative Artiste  Challenges are "Always Anything Mixed Media".

Please ensure that you use multiply mediums in your project.

This is my project for this month, a reverse canvas Steampunk Mechanical Maiden.  I had lots of fun creating my project.

The Mechanical Maiden is a rubber stamp from the collection of the Shokart Mixology Sister.  The stamp can be purchased from Shokart Mixology Sister in the UK or from Pip Art Creations (Pip Shokar) in Canada.

I had fun creating my canvas using a combination of Pentart paints (Rust Effect) , Acrylic paints, and stencil, Super Heavy Gel, numbers and pieces of a Stamperia mold made with Pentart Light modeling paste.

I used Copic Markers to colour the Mechanical maiden along with inks and Nuvo.

To my collage I also added a large clock in the background, pocket watch , Skelton head, different gears, pocket watch with chain and numbers.

Here are some closer looks.

Halloween Altered Box, Anything Goes at Steampunk Challenges

If you have not hear we have a new challenge blog called Steampunk challenges.  This is our second monthly challenge. We are a Steam . Grunge . Industrial themed blog.  Check us out here.

This months challenge is anything goes and I decided to create an altered Halloween box.

This is the box I started with.  I sanded it and applied a layer of gesso to the entire box.

To create my Halloween theme box I used an assortment of napkins, Halloween papers, metal pieces along with some steampunk elements, crackle paste and antiquing solutions.

I used a plastic Halloween partial skeleton for the handle for my box that I coloured with antiquing solution and glued with E6000.
