Christmas Gift Box

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges this week has a great challenge, create a Christmas gift box. There are so many types of boxes you can do.
Every year for a little gift for the people that I visit I make boxes of cards or tags. This little box I cut with my Cricut out of a beautiful Christmas paper by Mind’s Eye.  The paper pack is called Sweet Dreams, Holiday Avenue. I then added my digital image, called “Cecil Wrapped Up” by Digi Doodles Shop.  I think he is just so cute. I colored him with Copics, glitter and gel pens, and a gold leaf marker.  He is already for Christmas giving.
Come join us this week at Holly JollyChristmas Challenges there are so many different creative boxes you could make and it would be one more item ready for Christmas.  If you are stuck for an idea just search “box” on Split Coast Stampers’ web site,  53 types of  boxes come up.
Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day.

Anything but a Card

Come and Get it Challenges this week is having anything but a card challenge and I thought I would make an explosion box for this challenge.  The theme of this explosion box is an upcoming 25th anniversary for a friend’s son and wife.
The cake was made from different sizes of ribbon spools and decorated with papers and  bling from my stash. The 25 was cut out with my Cricut.  I had fun making the cake and the flower decorations.  I hope they enjoy it has much as I enjoyed making it.

I created this simple little card for a card swap at a Yahoo Group I belong too based on a card sketch. The digi stamp is so cute and is from Pollycraft Digi stamps which is no longer in business. I have quite a few of their stamps and have missed their great selection of stamps.

It is Time for A Bingo

It is Hostest choice and she has choosen a bingo for this week challenge at Come and Get it Challenges. Choose a row, column or diagonal , make your card and include in your creation the elements in the row that you have chosen.

Bugaboo Stamps are the sponsor of this challenge and you know what that means – there is a prize given out of 7 digi stamps.

Here is my card

I used this cute digi image by our sponsor Bugaboo Digi stamps called "Ava Deacon Birthday", it is one of their stamps from the "Scene It" collection. For the bingo I chose to use the center vertical row: die cuts, free and glitter. I thought a birthday card was a great choice for a glitter card.  I used Martha Stewart’s glitter pens and stickles for the glittering. To complete the card I used a Stampin Up set of die cutters and stamps for the Happy Birthday sentiment. I love their new banners set.

This card will be prefect for one of my niece’s little ones birthdays coming up. It’s is very colorful and  festive. Come and Join us this week Come and Get us Challenges this week.

Dream of Flowers - Day 5

This is my last day this week as card captain at yahoo group Enjoy Michael Strong Stamps and I have made a card using Mike’s small tulip rubber stamp and a leaf stamp from Stampin Up. The back ground of this stamp was made with Gina K’s upholstery background technique. You can view the video on this technique at:

  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvvenzdngmi

I water coloured the tulip with my distress inks and then added a sentiment, ribbon and some bling for interest.

Thank you for joining me this week. I have really enjoyed coming up with my ideas. Come join us at Yahoo group Enjoy Michael Strong Stamps.

Paint Dabbers and Distress Inks - Day 4

I created this tag for day four as card captain at Michael Strong Rubber Stamps using Mike’s dragonfly rubber stamp again along with several different rubber stamps. I recently had purchased some distress ink stains and wanted to try them on a tag.

I first stamped the tag with a couple of Mike’s dragonflies using Pearl Adirondack’s Metallic Acrylic Paint Dabber. I then rubbed three different colours of distress stains on the tag. The Acrylic Paint Dabbers act as a resist and make an interesting pattern on the tag.

I then stamped a couple of different background stamps with Stazon Ink. To complete the tag I added a dragonfly stamped on black paper with the Pearl Acrylic Paint.

Finger Painting with Distress Inks - Day 3

Today’s card was created for day three as card captain at Michael Strong Rubber Stamps using one of Mike’s Cloisonne Crane rubber stamps and a feather stamp by PSX.

I embossed the feather stamp with white embossing powder and then used my fingers to add the different colours of distress ink over the embossed image. After inking the image I then took a cloth and rubbed the embossed areas removing any ink.

I layered the card with several different embossed papers, added a beautiful ribbon and the crane as an embellishment and the finishing touch for the card.

Inspiration - Day 2

I created this tag for day two as card captain at Michael Strong Rubber Stamps using Mike’s dragonfly rubber stamp. To make the collage tag I used several different rubber stamps and distress inks and then flicked water on the card to make the water spots and blend the ink (squirt and flick technique). The stamps I used along with the dragonfly were:

Postal Stamp by Rubber Stampede
Sentiment - Inspiration (unknown)
Cheese cloth background rubber stamp by Stampin Up

Hope you enjoyed today’s creation and have a creative day.

Traditions - Christmas

Cindy chose a great theme for this week’s challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges, heat embossing. There are so many possibility to do some great Christmas projects with this technique. Heat embossing, I think was the element of card making that first attracted me to the craft and I rarely pick up my heat gun anymore. Time to get it out again.

I decided to make a tag for this challenge and use a Camel Silhouette stamp by Stampington & Company. I stamped my camel stamp in Versa Mark ink and embossed the image with detailed black embossing powder. I then used my distress inks in the colours of antique linen, aged mahogany, iced spruce and festive berries to colour the background of the tag. I then stamped in black Stazon ink the Joy stamp by Hampton Art and the word Christmas by Endless Designs.

The metal Tradition tag was from my stash along with the moss green fibers. I liked the way the tag came out and I think I will make some a few more. It is good to have a collection of cards and tags made well ahead of Christmas and one way of making sure you are ready this year is top join us at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges every week.

Metallic Markers with Brayer - Day 1

It is my turn again to be card captain this week at one of my favourite rubber stamp groups, Enjoy Michael Strong Rubber Stamps. Today’s creation was done with a technique using metallic markers with a soft rubber brayer.

I applied the markers directly onto the brayer by drawing lines after I had sprayed it lightly with a little bit of water. I then rolled the brayer on to white glossy card stock and turning the brayer slightly to have the colours blend together.

Once I had the background the way I wanted it I let the surface dry and then stamped two different beach stamps over my brayered background in Stazon ink. I embellished the card with Michael’s sea shell and star fish which I had stamped on a similar background.

It is Card Sketch Time

Cindy has chosen this interesting card sketch for this week at Come and Get it Challenges.

Here is my card.

To create my card sketch I used papers from a paper pack called English Meadows by Colorbox along with my EK punch, a sentiment, and paper butterfly. I like this simple little sketch, it makes a quick and easy card and a great way to use up scraps.

Christmas Angel

It is my turn to choose the theme for this week challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges, and I chose Christmas Angels. When I think of Christmas I have fond memories of the Christmas Angel we placed on the top of our tree every year.

I found this lovely Star Angel digi stamp by Michelle Perkett on Esty. The Star Angel reminds me of my favourite tree topper. I coloured the angel with my Martha Stewart pigment and glitter pens and my Copic Markers. I then added some layers of gold and silver die cut and embossed papers and stars. The "Joy" sentiment is a free sentiment from Arty Pants Digital Stamps.

Dynamic Duos #10 - Bold and Sassy Colors

Dynamic Duos’ challenge this week is bold and sassy, and the colours are rich razzleberry and old olive. Very nice colour combo!!

To create my card I used a Provo Craft die cutter that I found in my stash. I do not even remember buying it and have for sure never used it. Have any of you had that experience? It has to be several years old.  I can see using \parts of this die cutter for different cards.

Once I decided how I was going to lay out the die cut pieces I put the card together and added some bling to finish it off.

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Hot Summer Colours

Craft Spots by Kimberly’s challenge this week is Hot Summer Colours (#61) and this card I made reminds me of a hot summer day. I used the upholstery technique that I saw on Gina K Designs web site a couple of weeks ago for the background and coloured the flower and the background with distress inks.

The flower stamp is by Hero Arts and the sentiment is by A Muse Artstamps. A ribbon and some pearls completed the card.

Thank you for stopping by and have a Fan-tastic day!

Just A Line - Dynamic Duo (#9)

Dynamic Duo every week give you two colours to create your project with and this week the challenge colours are Crumble Cake and your choice. Neutrals such as black, white, vanilla, skin colours and kraft are welcome. I chose a green toned paper to compliment the Crumble Cake.

My card was inspired by a card I saw in a book called "Designing Handcrafted Cards" by Claire Sun-Ok Choi. The flowers are by Sandylion and the sentiment stamp is by Stamper’s Choice. I used a black pen to make the broken line that outlines the arcs I cut in the paper to hold square.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my cards.
